　　19世纪50年代，船长查尔斯·布恩（艾德里安·布洛迪 Adrien Brody 饰）的妻子于海上去世后，他带着三个孩子回到缅因州名叫“传教士之角”的小镇里定居。在祖传的老宅子里，查尔斯发现了自己家族的黑暗秘密。

　　Lahela "Doogie" Kamealoha, a mixed-race 16-year-old girl in modern-day Hawai'i, juggles a budding medical career with life as a teenager. Guiding Lahela (and also complicating things) is her family, including her spitfire Irish mother, who's also her supervisor at the hospital; and her Hawaiian "Local Boy" father, who is struggling to accept that his daughter is no longer his little girl.

But the greatest threat to the family emerges from within: in the shape of a ruthless, bullying, agent of chaos. Fortunately, from positions of great adversity the boldest plans are often forged.
